Our volunteers packed 200 personal care kits that will be distributed at two shelters during the holidays. Each kits contained a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, razor, shaving cream, bar soap in a smaller ziplock bag, comb, and a scripture tract. After we finished packing, we talked about how in the book of Acts, it discusses the culture of the members of the early church. How they shared with one another…those having more shared with those having less. We prayed over the cases of packed kits….that God will use this small, good work for His glory.

Save a Buck
Tim Buck suffered a massive heart attack while dancing with his wife, Fatima, at an outdoor public event in Coon Rapids this summer. Thanks to the work of volunteers and the local authorities, Tim was revived, has received bypass surgery and is now returning to health. We found out about Tim’s situation via Facebook. After a brief interview, we recognized the need, prayed and launched into action. T2NL provided financial assistance to Tim and Fatima to establish a new home as well as some additional funds to set up the place. Thanks to some generous folks for being moved by their situation and deciding to share with those having less.

Closing a gap when entering new housing
LaTonya was staying at the People Serving People shelter when we met. We found her to be very gracious and ambitious. Her son is extremely well-mannered and helpful. She needed help furnishing her new apartment. T2NL located some furniture (couch, table, chairs and inflatable beds) as well as a TV set (with digital adapter) and a entertainment center, all from generous donors.
Benefits interrupted and T2NL steps in the gap
With the birth of her new baby, Loreal experienced an unexpected stoppage of her benefits and needed a little help with her rent. She had a wonderfully cooperative landlord who was willing to work with us. She sent a nice thank you card…”Thank you for everything”. We thank the source and great Giver of all we have for His provision that we are able to share with these folks.
Mom approved for housing in suburbs
Kia has two school-aged children and found refuge in Maple Grove, once having been approved for housing. Our volunteer, Denise, stepped in to help enroll the children in their new school and take them school clothes shopping. Now that the kids are off to school, mom is looking to do the same at Hennepin Technical College.
Persistent job searcher has rent gap
Sabrina needed help with rent. She was vigorously pursuing employment…and was successful! She struck us as super organized and a real “go getter”. Here’s her words for us to share with you:
“I just want to let you know that I have found a job. I want to thank you and your community for all of your help and prayers. I think God for blessing me with people like you.”
Ambitious young woman needs a nudge
We met Sherry through a referral from Grace Fellowship in Brooklyn Park. We worked together to provide the assistance needed to help her move forward. Here’s what was on Sherry’s heart to share with us:
“I have never had help like this before and I cannot even begin to tell you how grateful I am for it. I am a person who shows my appreciation and I’ve always believed in paying it forward”.
We have no doubt that in God’s time, Sherry will “pay it forward”
Medical issues causes job loss
Here’s a quote from Kevin’s email to us (better than reading our interpretation of the events!):
“Once I lost my job and was under a doctor’s care for three weeks and not being able to pay my rent and having an eviction notice, God blessed me with finding your organization. Your organization was a Godsend”.
Only thing to say after that is, “Amen”!
Under-employed, mom and three kids need groceries
Sheila is working hard at her part time job. She has a home under a program that provides an opportunity for her to own it at some point (sorry, didn’t get the name of the program). As can happen, she got behind on some bills and was coming up short for the month. The good news had just come that she would be going full time at her job shortly. But what to do to make it in the meanwhile? T2NL took Sheila shopping for the grocery items needed to bridge the gap. We also left her a grocery gift card, so she could get whatever else she might need until her first, larger paycheck arrives. Sheila told us “things are looking up”. We’re looking up and praising God for His provision…how He always loves and cares for us. We’re glad to have the opportunity to do the same for Sheila’s family.
Family in crisis
Through our connections on Facebook, we met William and his children…five to be exact. Lots of domestic turmoil and a sad situation for sure for the children. William is sightless, so imagine raising five kids on your own, with limited means and being blind. Lots of challenges. The immediate need was for temporary housing. We found an extended stay residence that bridged the gap between the previous living situation and the next one arranged. Additionally, T2NL provide groceries and clothing for the children. William said not only the financial support but the “love you showed us” meant everything. That’s what Jesus does…He loves those with less.
